EARLY YEARS - 1980 to 1985
The company was founded by Wade Griffith in January of 1980. Using his years of experience in the commercial and residential construction industries he began building a company that would specialize in high-end leisure home additions. The original location was a 6000 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse that was located at 1001 E. Central in Wichita, Kansas. The company focused on selling and installing "Solar Rooms" throughout south central Kansas. Within two years, spas and hot tubs had become such a popular option that the company began distributing sunrooms and spas in the surrounding states.
Most of the sunrooms were being purchased from east coast suppliers. The quality was quite poor (They were hobby green houses being sold as room additions) and the logistics problem of shipping halfway across the country created ongoing challenges. In 1984 the decision was made to begin designing and manufacturing our own solarium.
MIDDLE YEARS - 1986 to 2001
Sunshine Rooms' produced its first solarium grade room addition in late 1985. Manufacturing operations were set up inside a large public warehouse facility which allowed the company to lease additional space monthly. Dealers were recruited from around the United States and by 1988 sales had grown so rapidly that it was time to seek out a permanent building that was suitable for manufacturing. The solution came in 1989 when the company purchased its current location at 3333 N. Mead in Wichita, Kansas.
A continued focus was placed on strengthening the growing dealer network which allowed the company to acquire the assets of Solarium Systems International in early 1991 from the fortune 500 company Apogee Enterprises. In 1994 we were awarded the prestigious Wings of Wonder Butterfly Exhibit project in Winter Haven, Florida. An exhaustive evaluation process by an Anheuser-Busch design team selected Sunshine Rooms' for this world-class project.
LATE YEARS - 2001 to Present
With the realization that the companies product lines had the structural integrity to compete in the commercial marketplace, we began to market to general contractors and architects. In just a couple of years, Sunshine Rooms' began to design, manufacture, and install all types of specialty glazing structures for projects throughout the United States. Our unique product features set us apart from our competition. Sunshine Rooms' central location allows us to keep operating and transportation cost low, while serving the entire country, which makes for a winning combination.
Sunshine Rooms' has developed into a true single source supplier for all types of specialty glazing products. We design, engineer, fabricate, and install just about any type of sloped glazing project. We have completed over 15,000 projects across the United States and in several foreign countries.
We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to explore our Website and products. Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding your next project. We look forward to working with you.
